Jack McHenry, Michelle Martin, and Mike Martin with B and G Club Director Ken Cooper
The Edmonds Petanque Club mission includes giving back to the community, and in the course of the recent Green and Gold Tournament, club members did just that. Prior to and during registration for the March tournament, petanque players contributed $800 to the club’s Civic Playfield neighbor organization, the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club.
On April 14, Michelle and Mike Martin and Jack McHenry of the EPC met with Boys and Girls Club Director Ken Cooper to present Ken with a check that, we hope, helps his organization as Ken steers a challenging course this summer, providing after-school and summer programs for Edmonds youngsters while monitoring the construction of a brand-new Boys and Girls Club facility at the Playfield.
Ken explained that demolition of the older red building is slated to begin this spring, after which a state-of-the-art recreational and community center will be constructed. On behalf of his organization, Ken Cooper was extremely pleased to receive the Edmonds Petanque Club’s gift and assured his visitors that the funds would be put to good use.
