League Tournament winners. In second place, Tom Nunn and David Sunquist. In first place, Leon Louis-Jeune and Jeri Lockhart. In third place Cris Dreher and John Hunt.

Over the course of the spring, 14 teams have vied for the Chris Guitton Trophy in six weeks of continuous play. This round-robin competition determines the club League winner. With a healthy margin of victory Bill Laprade and David Rockwell secured the championship and share the trophy until next year’s competition. It is worth noting that this win marks the fifth time that David has finished in the top spot of the League, playing with three different partners since 2014. It is the second time that Bill has earned top honors. Congratulations Bill and David.

David Sundquist and Mike Martin accomplished a fantastic second place finish, combining the relatively new skills of David, who has just started play, with Mike’s wisdom and experience. David and Mike formed a formidable team. Cris Dreher and John Hunt completed the League season in third position.

Then on Saturday, June 14, the EPC concluded the 2025 League play with a day-long tournament including competition (concours) and consolation (consolante) brackets. Saturday’s tournament took place at the same time and immediately adjacent to the No Kings Rally that attracted more than 2000 participants to the Civic Playfield. Petanque has never enjoyed such great exposure. The day turned into a petanque showcase for those on their way to and from the rally, as many visitors asked questions, including the perennial “Is this bocce?” EPC members were gracious in explaining the fun of the sport, and the two events went off without conflict, demonstrating the multi-purpose design of Edmonds’ park.

Jeri Lockhart and Leon Louis-Jeune finished as champions of the one-day tournament, defeating David Sundquist and Tom Nunn in the final of the concours bracket. Cris Dreher and John Hunt took third in the Concours. On the consolation side, Jack McHenry and Brien Meilleur won the top spot. Jeanna Holz and Margaret Eastwood finished second. Keogh Singkeo and Wendy Chaffee came in third in the consolante.
