Last Saturday, March 29, Edmonds Petanque Club launched the 2025 season with the annual Green and Gold Tournament. Through the day, doubles teams comprised of one “Green” (less experienced) player and one “Gold” (more experienced) player competed in a series of four matches. The Green and Gold teams were drawn randomly, so that until registration no one knew who their partner would be for the day. The resulting teams allowed people less experienced with the sport of petanque to learn from their partners AND for new club members to make connections with veterans and those they may not have had a chance to meet yet.

David and Nancy Rockwell managed registration, as players lined up to learn who they would play with for the day

Team combinations were posted, and the games could begin!

Special thanks to Nancy, who “held down the fort,” recorded scores, and sold merchandise while games were underway.

Though the morning was chilly, the competition was heated, and every point counted. Ron, Jeanna, and Sigrid look on while Doug measures for the point.

Logan LePage and Joan Poor were outstanding all day long and emerged as the WINNERS of the 2025 Green and Gold. Between Joan’s razor-sharp pointing and Logan’s shooting rockets, they made a fantastic team.

But others were not far behind. Here are the day’s TOP THREE TEAMS: From the left side: Alan Piercy and Brian Francis finished in third place. Logan LePage and Joan Poor were the champions; Patrick Trompeter and Don Bothell took the silver.

Logan and Joan, the best of the Green and Gold in 2025!
