This was the first large-scale event the club has held in the new Petanque Grove, and the facility proved outstanding.

With help from temporary wooden boundaries and taut yellow string lines, the club fashioned seven new courts in addition to the six standard courts to host the sold-out, all-day event. After four rounds of play, club member Tu Huang emerged as the champion for the day with 37 points. John Hunt took second with 33 points, and La Singkeo finished third with 22 points. In the shooting contest that concluded the day’s competition, Tu and La tied for first place and shared the top prize.

The new park facilities offer an extraordinary venue for such an event, and guests from Port Townsend, Sunriver, Portland, and even Paris were impressed. At the lunch break, French cafe music was provided by accordionist Bonnie Birch, who created a wonderful ambiance under the new yellow shade pavilion. The Edmonds Petanque Club sends thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async"
